Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued “Notice on the Announcement of the List of National and Provincial First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Points in 2020 (Department of Education (2021) No.7). HYIT’s four majors including Chemical Engineering and Technology, Food Science and Engineering, Communications Engineering and Software Engineering have been approved. Up to now, our school has been approved 6 national first-class undergraduate major construction points, 8 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points. Such achievement proved to be gratifying for our school in the beginning year of “14th Five-Year Plan”.

In recent years, the school has been adhering to the idea of integrated development of discipline and major construction, vigorously implementing the“first-class major” construction plan and the “2612” brand major construction project, actively docking the national first-class undergraduate major “Double Million Plan”, taking the school brand major construction project as the means, the provincial brand major construction as the guide, the national first-class major construction as the goal to actively construct a four-level major construction system including the national, provincial, school-level, and faculty-level, and has comprehensively promoted the major connotation construction.

In the future, the school will take the newly approved national first-class undergraduate major construction points as an opportunity to strengthen the construction of national first-class major construction points, firmly establish the concept of “students-centered, outcome-oriented, and continuous quality improvement”, comprehensively deepen the reform of education and teaching, and constantly strengthen the construction of major connotation. More importantly, full play should be given to the leading role of construction and demonstration of the construction points in the aspects of major management standard, major reform effect, building the teaching workforce, talent training quality and so on, so as to help the overall level of school major construction and realize the high quality development of undergraduate majors in our school.
